Your Current House Is Too Small

Not just for people but storage and just space in general.

Whatever the reason, needing a bigger home is a valid reason to search for another home.  If the lack of space is seriously stressing you out.  It’s def time to start searching for a new house for you and your family.

Your House Is Too Big

Downsizing is another primary reason for people moving to a new place. This also has many reasons like kids have grown older, and now they are starting to move out to other cities for college and jobs.

So, now the current space is more than enough for you; many rooms are not in use and costing you more rent or maintenance costs. In such circumstances, it would be best to move to a smaller or more compact apartment to avoid unnecessary expenses.

Promotion or Career Goals

You have always aimed to improve the job prospects or getting your dream job. Now more than ever, great jobs are hard to come by.  You may have been offered the job or considering applying.  Weighing the pros and cons can be really confusing.  A piece of advice; you should seize the opportunity because you probably won’t get it again.

If the career demands you to move to another city, it may benefit you in the long run.  Getting out of your current city and comfort zone could really boost to your career and social life as well. Not only can moving make you a more well-rounded person, you may be looking at a nice boost to your pockets.  You can narrow down your decision by writing down the pros and cons and narrowing down what’s really important to you.

Awful Neighbors

So, this made our list because it’s one of the reasons we have choosen to move in the past. In college we had a awful roomate, we could’nt wait to get away from them at the end of the year.

None the less, if you can financially afford it, move. Whether your neighbors are rowdy, unclean, lawn destroyers or just plain annoying. We are validating your want to get out ASAP! Your Welcome 🙂

Aging & Retirement

People naturally feel the need to get closer to their family members as they age. Especially if you have elderly parents or have grandchildren, you might want to spend more time with them and move closer.

This was a decision we made in 2014, when our grandmothers health declined.  It turned out to be a good move, because we were allowed to spend a lot of time with her and we cherish those memories today.

Aging also brings health issues and can reduce your energy level. That is why older people prefer to move to a more secure home (such as single-story) or one that does not need much maintenance, and has better health facilities near them.

Retirement is another big reason to move out. Moving after retirement means living in a place where you wanted to but couldn’t due to job hassles. You have worked hard throughout your life, and now it’s time to enjoy the rest of it without any work stress. Usually, senior adults move to a place where they can relax, such as tropical environments.

Change in Lifestyle

If you want to upgrade your lifestyle and try new activities, make new friends, or change your surrounding sceneries, then moving out is an option. Some want to move to areas with more nature, and some are attracted by the city life.

There is no harm in changing your current lifestyle as it is our right to live in a place that gives us comfort. So, search through different towns and cities and choose which best fit your pocket and the living style you want.

Long Commute

Why do people move to a city? Well, this might be one of them. If your college or office is too far from your residence, it is sure to take your valuable time and energy. At one point, it all becomes a burden for you.

Instead of wasting too much time on roads and buses every day, it is better to look for a place closer to your workplace or college/university and move.

Commuting can take a real toll on your mental and physical well-being.  Don’t be ashamed to put this at the top of the list of reasons to move.  We choose to make a move back in 2019, for this very reason.  The 45 minute commute was just not worth the hassle and frustration.

Change In Relationship Status

Many times, the reason to move to a new place is the change in your relationship status, whether its marriage or divorce. It is one of the good reasons to move to another state.

If you are getting divorced, get a new place that is 100% yours and give yourself a fresh start. If you are getting married, you can both select a place that reflects both your styles and start a new life.

Better Schools

When you have kids, one of your main focuses can be an educationally awarding and a safe school district that ranks well in the state. This is one of the best reasons to move to a new city.

Usually, when a newly married couple moves, they do not have many plans about kids and their schools. But when the family grows, their demands increase as well, and better schooling for kids becomes an essential reason for you to move.

Financial Struggles

This is another good reason to move. Many people face financial strain at some point in their lives. These struggles include getting divorced, debt, or losing your job; which leaves no choice but to find more affordable housing.

In the current climate, many are ditching expensive city living for the suburbs; or choosing to downsize.  You can save rent, utility, and maintenance costs in a smaller space.

When we had our first child, we were pressured to buy a bigger car and a bigger home.  In reality, that wasn’t necessary especially for one additional child.  In the end we saved an immense amount of money, but not succumbing to peer pressure.  It’s not that you won’t get the home of your dreams; but you have to be flexible at times and stick through hard times.

So, is moving away a good idea? Well, every big step requires courage, and moving to a new place is one of them. There can be many reasons why you should move. However, if you are experiencing any of the above-mentioned points, moving may be the best option for you.
